Peachtree Christian Hospice honors Neil L. Pruitt, Jr.

DULUTH — The Directors of Peachtree Christian Hospice (PCH) announced that Neil L. Pruitt, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Norcross-based PruittHealth, is the 2014 recipient of The Scott Hudgens “Good and Faithful Servant” Award.

In keeping with the immense benevolence of the late developer and philanthropist, D. Scott Hudgens, Jr., this coveted award is presented annually to an individual who has exhibited an unselfish spirit of caring for other people and a genuine interest in the community.

“The Directors of our PCH Board are thrilled to present this award to Neil Pruitt at our 12th Annual Benefit, Gala and Awards Dinner on May 1. Neil epitomizes the award attributes through his profound commitment to caring, as well as his acclaimed leadership and active involvement in the health care profession at the national, state, and local levels. We greatly value our long-standing partnership with Neil and PruittHealth,” said PCH Board Chair and President Martha S. Todd.

Pruitt’s focus on the delivery of quality health care brings him national attention as shown by his Congressional appointment in 2013 to the Commission for Long Term Care, a panel of 15 members who were charged with development of plans for a comprehensive, coordinated and high-quality system ensuring long-term care for older adults and people with disabilities. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Governors for the American Health Care Association, Vice Chair for the Georgia Board of Regents, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the University System of Georgia Foundation, a Board member of the Georgia Regents Health System, a Board member of the PruittCares Foundation, Chair of the Georgia Regents Health System Audit, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management Committee and a past Chair of the Georgia Health Care Association.

Pruitt joined UHS-Pruitt Corporation, recently re-branded PruittHealth, in September of 1997 as Project Manager where he oversaw the grant writing for Title III programs and other grants offered by the State of Georgia. He was an Assistant Administrator in an affiliated metro-Atlanta skilled nursing facility, later assuming the position of Executive Director for UniHealth Solutions. Under his leadership, UniHealth Solutions was reengineered from a case management company for commercial patients into an entry point for patients into the continuum of services offered by the PruittHealth family of providers and is now known as PruittHealth Care Management.

Since his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2002, Pruitt has expanded and diversified PruittHealth, while strengthening its financial structure and significantly improving its service delivery capabilities throughout the Southeast. With 14 home health agencies, 29 hospice agencies including one inpatient hospice facility, 89 related skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, five assisted living communities, one independent living community, six pharmacies and one medical supply company, the PruittHealth family of providers offers rehabilitative, home and community-based and medical supply services. During the past 12 years, he has undertaken quality improvement initiatives that have included renovation projects within the skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers and a customer service program that ensures all patients and families are recognized and treated as respected and valued clients.

Pruitt has placed special emphasis on creating a patient-centric corporate culture which empowers partners (employees) to deliver the highest possible quality of care through an upscale consumer experience. Through these efforts and achievements, Pruitt has successfully positioned PruittHealth as a leader in the provision of post-acute and senior living services.

Said Todd: “Neil is a devoted husband to his wife, Mebane and the proud father of three wonderful children. Clearly, Neil’s respect for family values, coupled with his remarkable accomplishments and impeccable quality standards to improve the delivery of health care services, makes him the ideal recipient of the Scott Hudgens ‘Good and Faithful Servant’ Award.”
