Walmart Neighborhood Market to Open June 20th

A ribbon cutting ceremony and other festivities for the new Lawrenceville, Ga. store will be held next Wednesday morning.

The first-in-the-state will open its doors to customers on Wednesday, June 20th.Β 

The grocery store only Walmart will hold a grand opening celebration starting at 7am with local dignitaries on hand. At 7:45am, the ribbon will be cut and the store will be open to the public.

The grand opening celebration will continue through the weekend and include giveaways, samplings and more.Β Walmart and the Walmart Foundation will also be presenting $10,000 in grants to local charities in honor of the new store.

"It's my pleasure to welcome Walmart Neighborhood Market to the Lawrenceville area," said Gwinnett County Commissioner Charlotte Nash in a release. "As both a redevelopment project and business that brings 80 job opportunities to the community, this is another big win for Gwinnett County."

The 44,000 square foot Market will go in the space at Bethesda walk vacated by Publix in February 2009. It will employ some 80 full- and part-time workers. The grocery store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Bethesda Walk Shopping Center is located at 3059 Lawrenceville Highway in Lawrenceville.
