Walmart is opening Neighborhood Markets in Lawrenceville and other locations in Georgia.

In December, Walmart announced they were opening their first right here in Lawrenceville. The stand alone grocery store at was slated to open this spring, however that date has been pushed back. The new scheduled opening date is June 25th. It will go into the  shopping center, where Publix once was until it closed in February 2009.

A number of Patch readers asked about job opportunities. We attempted to contact Walmart representatives but did not receive a response. When we went down to the site of the future store, we saw a sign saying applicants may go to the to apply. Interested parties may also apply online at Walmart's Hiring Center. According to Walmart's website, each store hires approximately 95 people.
