Mold Found in Taco Bell Ice Machine: Restaurant Inspections January 27

McAlisters and Dairy Queen were also inspected.

The following are restaurant health inspection scores as reported by Gwinnett County:

Violations: 2-2D, Violation of Code: [.07(3)(b) ] Paper towels not available at back handwash sink. Paper towels were placed at the handwash sink. Paper towels must be provided at all handwash sinks at all times.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 10D, Violation of Code: [.04(8)(b) ] Packaged, commercially processed foods for sale to the consumer not removed from sale immediately after the manufacturer’s expiration date or sell-by date. Seven (7) containers of Core Power Protein Drink were located in the kitchen refrigerator. All seven bottles were discarded by Person in Charge (PIC). These items must be discarded by expiration date or removed from the facility. If kept in the refrigerator, it is assumed they are for sale/consumption.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 15B, Violation of Code: [.05(3)(h),(i) ] Quatenarry ammonium santizer (quat) being used in the dish sink. The level was at the appropriate amount of 200 ppm. Faciliy has test strips for chlorine sanitizer and not quat sanitizer. Please obtain quat test strips in order to accurately test sanitizer daily.  New Violation.

Violations: 4-2B, Violation of Code: [.05(7)(a)1 ] Food contact surfaces stored as clean found with food debris present. These items including slicer for cucumbers and slicer for tomatoes was removed to be properly cleaned to sight and touch. All food contact surfaces stored as clean must be clean to sight and touch.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 6-1A, Violation of Code: [.04(6)(f) ] Potentially hazardous food items in the prep cooler were found to be above 41 degrees at the time of inspection. Some items were discarded and others were in cooler for less than 3hrs and were removed to cool. Advised person in charge on proper storage of these itmes in the prep cooler including keeping items below the fill line of containers. All potentially hazardous food items held cold must be held at 41 degrees or below to help prevent possible contamination.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.

Violations: 2-2D, Violation of Code: [.06(2)(o) ] The employee was observed using the hand sink to wash cap. Hand sink must be used for hand washing only. The employee completed task.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 4-2B, Violation of Code: [.05(7)(b) ] Ice machine has mold like substance present around the chute and guard. Ice bins, beverage dispensing nozzles and units, cooking oil storage tanks, coffee bean grinders, or water vending equipment must be cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil or mold.  New Violation. Correct By: 02/06/2014. 15A, Violation of Code: [.05(6)(q) ] The freezer is leaking. All equipment must be in good condition.  New Violation. 15C, Violation of Code: [.05(7)(a)2,3 ] 1. Shelving in the walk-in cooler and in the prep area have buildup of debris present. 2. Gaskets on all walk-in cooler door. 3. Keyboards for the fryers.  Repeat Violation. Correct By: 02/06/2014.

Violations: 4-2A, Violation of Code: [.04(4)(c)1(iv) ] Taquitos in walk in cooler, beans and cooked chicken in walk in cooler that were cooling since yesterday, sugar and peppers in dry storage area all stored uncovered. All foods must be stored covered while not in use. All were covered during inspection.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 15A, Violation of Code: [.05(6)(a) ] Chip scoop and some plastic containers observed with broken pieces. All equipment must be maintained in good repair. Please discard and replace with new equipment.  New Violation. 17C, Violation of Code: [.07(5)(a),(b) ] Vinyl cove base throughout kitchen area in disrepair and not attached to wall. All physical facilities must be maintained in good repair.  New Violation. Correct By: 02/28/2014.

Dairy Queen, 611 Crogan Street

Violations: 12B, Violation of Code: [.03(5)(g) ] Observed cook at fry station wearing bracelet. Employee removed bracelet. Jewelery may not be worn on hands or wrists other than a plain banded ring.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 15C, Violation of Code: [.05(7)(a)2,3 ] The handles on the grill area prep cooler, the freezer chest for fries and chicken, and the shelves under the waffle maker have an accumulation of residue on them. Clean these areas. Nonfood contact surfaces must be cleaned with adequate frequency to prevent the accumulation of residue, dirt, debris, etc.  New Violation.
