Hollywood Comes To Lawrenceville - Meet Writer/Producer Elisa D. Bowman

Interested in learning how to write a screenplay? Elisa D. Bowman will teach you how.

I took a course in writing screenplays two years ago. It changed the style of my writing. My teacher was a Brit who loved zombies! I was writing my widow memoir. Who would think there would be any common bond? I was lost as to how to proceed with the layout of my book, and he gave me the tools I needed to finish it. Writing a screenplay is so far removed from writing a novel, but the techniques worked well for my essays. I have been fascinated with the art of screenwriting ever since.

Phrases such as, show don’t tell, get in late, leave early are key in screenplay writing. But what exactly do those words mean? If you are interested in learning, Hollywood is coming to Lawrenceville this month. Elisa D. Bowman will be teaching classes beginning October 15th in Lawrenceville. Bowman is a filmmaker. She is the producer of Dear Willie. She has served as production resource executive in the production of major motion pictures and television shows such as Will & Grace, Runaway Bride, Beverly Hills 90210, Striptease, Multiplicity, Nixon, The Getaway and more. She has also served as production coordinator and director’s assistant in projects such as Fashionably L.A. and Ringer

This California transplant recently wrote about her move to this area in Impact Times in her article titled Why Atlanta? Besides the many personal reasons for being in Atlanta, the movie industry is growing rapidly. Atlanta is now considered “to be in the top 5 cities to be a moviemaker”.  Atlanta is already home to Turner Studios, CNN and Tyler Perry. Read Bowman’s full article in Impact Times
