The 2012 Gwinnett Reads author for Gwinnett County Public Library’s Fall Into the Arts is Pulitzer Prize winner and the Poet Laureate of the United States, Natasha Trethewey

Her work combines free verse with more traditional forms like the sonnet and the villanelle to explore memory and the racial legacy of America.  She will be speaking about her work on October 7 at 5pm at the Georgia Gwinnett College, Student Center.  Light refreshments will be served and music will be provided by Joyce Parks, director of the B.J. Chorale.

Events are free and open to the public; seats are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Congratulations Sharon, I applaud your passion for reading. I remember consulting you on oneRead More occasion about reading techniques for my son David, who is now in year 6 at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, and I used the advise you gave me ; which was to read with him every day, or encourage him to read everyday. He has continued with the habit and is an avid reader today. He has even authored a book which we are in the process of trying to publish. Thankyou. Jane Otieno Nairobi, Kenya.
