Aurora to Kick Off Season with One Singular Sensation

The Tony Award winning musical "A Chorus Line" will open the downtown theatre's 16th season.

Next month will mark 16 years that the has brought world class performances to Gwinnett County. And what better way to kick off the new season than with the nine-time Tony Award winning musical A Chorus Line.

This will be Aurora's largest musical ever with 26 actors and a live band. The show will run from August 4th to September 4th.

A Chorus Line looks at the drama of dancers who dream of winning a role in a Broadway musical.

Aurora's production welcomes the return of Pamela Gold to the theatre in her role as Cassie, a dancer giving her dreams one last shot. Gold has performed on Broadway in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opposite Matthew Broderick.  It also features New York actors Brance Cornelius (National tour: How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as song and dance man Mike Costa and David Rossetti (National Tours: Hairspray and Fame & Kiss Me, Kate, Aurora Theatre) as the troubled and talented Paul.

In a release, producer Anthony Rodriguez explained why he chose A Chorus Line to open the 16th season. “While I was a student at UGA, I got the opportunity to play Al in Hilton Head’s Production of in A Chorus Line," said Rodriguez. "I can remember, I was propelled by the promise of a budding career as a performer. Now as Zach, I want the audience to feel what it is like to be a part of an actual audition.”

Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00PM and also Saturday and Sunday at 2:30PM. Tickets range from $16 to $35. There will also be a Library Preview Performance on August 2nd. Tickets will be $10 when you show your library card. Wednesday Matinee tickets for performances on August 24 and 31st at 10am will be $16.
