Aurora Theatre's First Awards Gala

Rolling out the red carpet for honored guests.

Guests were greeted with a red carpet at the entrance to the for the First Annual Theatre Awards Gala on Valentine’s Day. The event honored Mrs. Barbara Howard for her philathropic support to Gwinnett County and to theatre arts at the Aurora, Gwinnett’s only professional community theatre. Performing artists were given a commerative plaque officially named as the Barbara Howard Award.

The evening’s ceremony had a Hollywood flair of the Academy Awards in recognition of the best play, and musical and acting performances for the history of the Aurora Theatre as voted by the general public.

Entertainment was provided through artistic musical and dance numbers with varied selections such as “A Year with Frog and Toad” and “Dio, Che Nell’Alma Infondere” performed by Masters of Ceremonies Anthony Rodriguez and Brandon O’Dell, “Luck Be A Lady Tonight”, performed by Robert Egizio, “Spanish Rose and Quizas”, by Denise Arribas, “What I Did for Love” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”, by Leslie Bellair and Ingrid Cole, “I Hate Men”, by Natasha Drena and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat” performed by Glenn Rainey.

Donors to this First Annual Theatre Awards Gala included the Jim and Billie Ellis Foundation, Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, Myron and Theresa Bullock, Cylde and Sandra Strickland, Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation, Dorothy and Fred Rainey, Kerin and Beverly Dryden, Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau, World Financial Group, Gary Webb, Chris and Patti Arapoglou, Kathryn Parsons Willis Foundation, James and Kim Stephenson.
