Thom Schuyler wrote the Lacy J. Dalton hit song “16th Avenue” and the Willie Nelson Country Throwdown Tour is putting Thom’s lyrics into practice:
“From the corners of the country, from the cities and the farms
With years and years of living tucked up underneath their arms
They walked away from everything, just to see a dream come true
So God bless the boys who make the noise on 16th Avenue.”
At the tour’s midpoint, hosted the event which showcased Willie Nelson, Lee Brice, Randy Houser and Jamie Johnson on the main stage, but the all-day music fete offered a second stage venue of Drake White, Craig Campbell, Brantley Gilbert and Willie’s son Lucas Nelson.
Country music fans braved the heat and threatening skies but were rewarded when the famed Bluebird Cafe came directly to them from Nashville. In traditional Bluebird fashion, but this time under a tent, singer-songwriters Austin Lucas, Brent Cobb, Dani Flowers, Adam Hood, Erin Enderlin and Caitlyn Smith entertained with their original new songs.
There were chances to win a brand spanking new Harley-Davidson motorbike, and a trip to Willie’s big bash July 4th in Dallas, Texas. Even the official program held a bonus of a ten song download from iTunes.
