• Lawrence Bennett

Mr. Lawrence Bennett of Lawrenceville, age 78. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Mr. Lawrence O. Bennett passed away on September 1, 2011. Born in Augusta, GA , Mr. Bennett grew up in North Augusta, SC. He later moved with his family to Miami, Fl where he attended the University of Miami and received his BS degree in Botany and Zoology. Mr. Bennett served his country in the US Army Medical Corp during the Korean War stationed in Germany. His working career spanned 40 years with the General Service Administration where he retired as a Director. He served his Lord in several ways including as Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA and later as a Member at Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Conyers. Mr. Bennett is survived by his loving wife Sheila of 52 years. Also surviving are daughters Lauren Turner and son-in law Denny Turner of Jefferson, Christina Mitchell and son-in-law Jeff Mitchell of Conyers, Grandsons Nathaniel Hutchison, Hayden Hutchison, Chris Mitchell, Bennett Mitchell, and Aaron Mitchell. Also surviving are brother Elwell Bennett and sister-in-law Zella, sister Ann Chafin and brother-in-law Bill of Washington, GA as well as several nieces and a nephew. In compliance with Mr. Bennett’s last wish , earthly remains were sent to the Medical College of GA for teaching and research. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Smyrna Presbyterian Church of Conyers. • Florin Parfene

Mr. Florin Parfene, age 70, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Genoveva Parfene, Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Laura Petcu, Lawrenceville, GA; sons Ion Parfene, Lawrenceville, GA and Christian Parfene, Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren; one sister; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Father Nicolae Campos officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA.
