  • Jack S. Greenwood

Jack S. Greenwood, Sr., age 86 of Lawrenceville, GA., passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. J. B. Reese and Rev. Clay Manley will officiate. Burial to follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. Mr. Greenwood served as Master of Lakewood Lodge #443 F & AM in 1956 as well as Junior Warden of the 5th Masonic District until relocating in South Florida in 1962. He worked in the prosthetics for over 40 years, beginning with JE Hanger & Atlanta Artificial Limb Co. after which he opened his own company, Greenwood Orthopedic Appliances, Inc. in West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Greenwood also served on the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau in Palm Beach County until his health failed. He was a Charter Member, served as a Deacon and Vice Chairman of Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur, GA at the time of relocating to Florida. He served in the 101st Airborne during WW II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He met his bride in Walgreens in Atlanta, GA on a Saturday afternoon and married her the following day. They celebrated 66 years together in June, 2011. Mr. Greenwood was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Daniel & Bessemer Conaway Greenwood and his sisters, Maxine Abbott & Juana Lou Boggs. Survivors include Wife: Margaret Allene Jones Greenwood; Children: Judy Greenwood Stepp, Franklin, NC; Shirley Greenwood & Robert Slattery, Lake Worth, FL; Jack S. Greenwood, Jr, Lawrenceville; Brother: Gene Greenwood, Nashville, TN; Grandchildren: 7; Great Grandchildren: 9. James "Jim" O'Conner, age 53, of Lawrenceville, GA was born on Nov. 27, 1957 and departed on Sep. 17, 2011. Arrangements by Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel.

  • Grady Eugene McCannon

Grady Eugene McCannon, age 81, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011.

A native of Lexington, GA, he was born on May 13, 1930 to the late Richard and Janie McCannon. He graduated from Meson Academy in 1947 and married Edna Earle "Eddie" McCannon on May 30, 1954.

Grady was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a military police Sergeant in Germany. He retired from Commercial Union Assurance Company and Sidney O. Smith Insurance Agency and was a 50 Year Member of Tucker Masonic Lodge #42 F&AM. He served as Grand Chaplain of Georgia in 1987, was an Emeritus Member of the Tucker Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member and deacon of Mountain Park First Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA

The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Rev. Dannie Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker with the Tucker Masonic Lodge serving as honorary escort.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of 57 years, Edna Earle "Eddie" McCannon. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Gary Thomason of Snellville, GA; grandchildren, Bryan and Robin Thomason of Spring Lake, NC and Alysha Thomason of Snellville, GA; first cousin, Dorothy and Roger Lord of Athens, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Woodrow and Lillian McCrea of Alma, GA; nephew, Billy and Yvonne Hurley of Lexington, GA.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Masonic Children’s Home, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211, (478) 743-5154.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. (770) 564-2726.
