  • David H. McFarland III

David H. McFarland III age 58, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 31, 2011. He is survived by his spouse, Jeannie James McFarland of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Jonathan McFarland age 27 of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Heather McFarland age 21 of Lawrenceville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Charles Hachat of Grayson, GA; brother-in-law, Jay James of Lawrenceville, GA; sister-in-law, Ginger James of Lawrenceville, GA; one niece and two nephews.
David was a native of Atlanta. He attended North Fulton High School where he played the saxophone in the band. He then graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in biology. It was in a college Spanish class where he met Jeannie James, his future wife and love of his life. They were married in 1980 and spent 31 happy and fulfilling years together.
David’s love out of the outdoors led him to his first job at the age of 14 at Hastings Garden Center. He worked for Hastings and then Pike Nurseries until he started his own landscaping design and maintenance company, which he did for 20 years. He then went back to school where he became a computer programmer. He was employed by Agilysys for 10 years until his passing.
David was a loving husband and father. He was the Cub Scout Troop leader for his son, where they enjoyed many camping outings and even built a teepee. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves. When not at work, he was rarely seen without his Atlanta Braves cap on.
David left us suddenly, unexpectedly, and far too soon. He was loved and respected by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
The Service Celebrating the Life of David H. McFarland III will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Minister Harold Savage officiating.
