Gorgeous Gumby

This poodle is up for adoption in Lawrenceville, Ga. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

Little Gumby is a sweet, old grandpa who needs a retirement home. For unknown reasons, this tiny fella was abandoned by his previous owners at a metro-area Animal Control. For several weeks, he sat in his cold, metal cage, being overlooked by person after person due to his age. Gumby quickly became a staff favorite, though. He spent many afternoons in the office, curled up in the employee's chairs. We were asked to take on Gumby and hopefully, find him a loving home where he can live out whatever time he has left. Though he is quite old (our vet says he is 12 years, at least), we think he still has a few good years left in him. Now that he's gotten rid of some rotten teeth (hence the name Gumby) and had his remaining ones cleaned, he is beginning to put on some weight (he was very, very thin when we got him). Though he does have a mild heart murmur, he does not require any medication at this time. Obviously, whoever adopts this guy is going to have to be flexible and willing (physically, as well as financially!) to take on whatever medical issues may arise in the coming months/years.

Now -- for the good news! Gumby has a very refined, reserved personality, quite befitting for his grandpa persona. Though he has cataracts, he can see and hear okay, and he always comes quickly when called. He is very good with other animals, though mostly, he just wants to hang out with his humans. Gumby is a lovely boy and he deserves to have a cozy home with a nice family just as much (if not more so!) than our younger rescues. Do you have it in your heart to give this sweet old man the retirement home he deserves? If so, please email us to get the ball rolling.

Gumby is fully vetted -- spayed/neutered, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and deworming. His adoption fee is negotiable to the perfect home.
