It is Memorial Day weekend. This weekend has the perfect line-up of events to get you out to celebrate in and around Gwinnett.

1.  Memorial Weekend Concert     

When: Friday, May 27. Starts at 7:00 p.m.

Why go: Listen to some great patriotic music in Town Center Park in the City of Suwanee. Pack a picnic or grab something to go to dine al fresco.

2. Memorial Day Service

When: Saturday, May 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Why go:  The American Legion Riders will perform a "Salute to Fallen Heroes" exhibition on their motorcycles and Purple Heart recipients will be honored with a commemorative coin and thanked for their service to our country.  This event  sponsored by the City of Duluth and American Legion Post 251 will be held at the Duluth Town Green.

Price: FREE

3.  Memorial Day Ceremony

When: Monday, May 30. Ceremony starts at 1:00 p.m.

Why go: This event is being held to honor those that died in the line of duty. It is hosted by Gwinnett County Government and the Fallen Heroes Memorial Committee.  The Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial was dedicated in 2003 to memorize Gwinnett citizens lost while serving.

The Fallen Heroes Memorial is located on the grounds of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive.

4. Red, White & Boat Concert  

When:  Saturday May 28 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Why go: Bring your chairs, coolers and dancing shoes to the Pavilion at the Marina on Lake Lanier, for a fun filled family evening. Enjoy good ol’ Beach music, Rock n’ Roll, Country and a whole lot more played by a live band.

5. Dacula Memorial Day Celebration   

When:  Monday, May 30 Hours are 9am to 5pm

Why go:  A 5K run, a parade and a festival are all included in a day of fun.  The 5K run starts at 8:00 a.m. and Parade starts at 10:00 a.m.  The festival features arts and crafts vendors from around the south. Singing from local artist will also be featured throughout the day.
