Escape to Parent's Night Out at the YMCA

Escape every month with Parent's Night Out at the YMCA

The is hosting its monthly Parent’s Night Out this Saturday, April 16 from 4:00pm until 9:00 pm.  Yes, a full 5 hours of child care for only 15 dollars for YMCA members, and 20 dollars for non-members. Each additional child is 5 dollars less. So, why not? What a perfect time for a great escape! Drop off the kids this weekend, and I’m sure they’ll be happy to escape too.

This program is designed to develop the spirit, mind and body of youth through supervised educational age appropriate activities. Children ages 6-12 are encouraged to join in on the fun. The schedule of entertainment kicks off by embarking on the children’s creativity with arts and crafts. Next, the gang heads to the YMCA’s youth and teen center, which is a social area filled with books, board games, a ping-pong table, basketball hoops, a pool table and an air hockey table.

Then it’s off to the outdoor basketball court for high energy recreational games like street hockey, swim fishy swim, hook-up tag, red-light, green-light, spud, and other games that give the children a blast. And to make the experience even more unforgettable, the kids get to take a splash in the YMCA’s indoor pool.  After fun in the pool, the children are served pizza and drinks.

And lastly, to finish off the schedule of the night’s activities and to prepare for parent pick-up, the children relocate to the indoor basketball gym for more high energy games.

“The kids seem to really enjoy it, and they can’t wait until the next one, says Danny Thomas, YMCA Parent’s Night Out Coordinator.  “The most important thing is to have an objective for the kids, that is planned…the objective is to move, move, move.”

“ It’s a win, win activity because the parents get free time and the kids get to meet and greet new and old friends, and they have a good time,” says Thomas.
