From June 9-23, 2014, Lawrenceville’s Downtown Development Authority will be receiving nominations for Medallions that will line the city’s new Heritage Trail walkway.

Beginning at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial and ending in front of Rhodes Jordan Park, the trail will focus on commemorating those historic figures who have contributed to the growth and development of Lawrenceville over the past 193 years.

Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson stated, “The Lawrenceville Heritage Trail was created as a way to honor Lawrenceville residents that have made extraordinary contributions to the growth, development, and overall well-being of the city. Residents and visitors will have opportunity to explore our community and learn even more about its history.”

The Heritage Trail is intended to provide a walking path that will allow those interested to stroll throughout the Downtown area while having the opportunity to learn about Lawrenceville’s proud past and the individuals that made it possible.

“Strengthening a city’s core is essential to building a healthy Main Street community” added David Still, Chairman of the Lawrenceville DDA. “Projects like the Heritage Trail combine history with present-day revitalization efforts to create an attraction that both residents and tourists can enjoy. It’s a win-win for all. My predecessor, Mike Reedy, has worked hard with the various City Councils to make this come to fruition.”

To nominate a deserving and qualified individual for this opportunity, please review the process and fill-out the application before close of business on Monday, June 23rd.

Application and process can be downloaded online at www.LawrencevilleGa.org. Go to Government (top), then Boards & Commissions (left menu), and look for the Downtown Development Authority page.

Applications can be mailed to PO Box 642, Lawrenceville, Ga 30046, faxed to 678.226.2646, dropped off at the Visitor Center on the Square or emailed to Jenny.Savoy@LawrencevilleGa.org.
