Sandy Hook Promise Issues Statement in Response to Atlanta Area High School Shooting

Yesterday, one person was killed and two others injured in a shooting near Phoenix High School in Lawrenceville, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. In response to this tragic shooting, Sandy Hook Promise, the community organization founded in the days following the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, issued the following statement:

“It seems that every week we hear about another incident of injury and death resulting from a shooting—especially among our youth.  Our hearts break as each new story unfolds, and we send our thoughts and prayers to the families of those so tragically affected.  But more than prayers—we seek to find real, common ground from which to build lasting solutions that unite the American public around our responsibility to keep our children safe.  We remain steadfast in our commitment to identify and address the causes of gun violence.”
