METRO AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BEGIN JOURNEY TO HIGH SOCIETY

On June 8th, the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter (GCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. kicked off its’ third biennial 2013-2014 Cotillion ~ Beautillion Program.  The theme is Crème de la Crème-Raising the Standard of Excellence. This program is in collaboration with the Fortitude Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, established in partnership with GCAC to serve as the premier resource to facilitate and foster community service programs in the Gwinnett County community.

The primary purpose of the Cotillion ~ Beautillion Program is to expose female and male youth to educational, cultural and social development activities. The program also provides an opportunity to raise funds to support scholarships for post-secondary education. Participants include rising juniors and seniors who have demonstrated exemplary moral standards, academic success and an intent to attend a post-secondary institution.  The 2013-2014 Cotillion-Beautillion program consists of seventeen (17) debutantes and ten (10) beaus from across the Metro Atlanta area.

“The Cotillion ~ Beautillion program is our unique signature coming of age event for high school juniors and seniors. It teaches the common principles of servant leadership, while also instilling the values of education, cultural awareness and community involvement.  Our participants' journey will be enriched with friendships that will last a lifetime! Beyond the memories of this experience, this program is a major fundraiser.  It will allow these young people to earn scholarships and give back at the same time. The Cotillion ~ Beautillion Ball is the finale of the completion of philanthropic, cultural and social training, thereby welcoming the debutantes and beaus into a world of civic community leadership.  On March 8, 2014, our participants will be presented to society at the “Crème de la Crème-Raising the Standard of Excellence” Grand Ball as young ladies and gentlemen,” said Latabia Woodward, newly elected President of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
