 The 164th Regional Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Georgia is being held Friday and today at First Christian Church of Lawrenceville,  (3495 Sugarloaf Parkway).

Events include keynotes by Dr. Richard Morse, Bible study by Dr. Stan Saunders, worship, fellowship, regional business, a Children's FUNderful Day, a Youth Lock-in, and collections For the Lawrenceville Food Pantry.

The Lawrenceville church is more than 100 years old and pastor is the Rev. Jay White.  Contact is
770-963-9922 or  http://www.lawrencevillefirstchristian.org/   The church is one of the oldest in Lawrenceville beginning as a tent meeting in July 18, 1909.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Richard Morse -- currently serving as Vice President at Church Extension, a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) -- has been engaged in church planting, first in the Seattle area and now as the leader of the Disciples new church movement.

Dr. Stan Saunders  is Associate Professor of New Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. His research interests include ‘eschatology’ in early Christian understandings of “the last days,” the nature of the Church, spirituality, and ecclesial self-definition with a special interest in the Gospel according to Matthew.

The adjacent Salvation Army and New Hope Christian Church, 1982 Old Norcross Road, Lawrenceville, are assisting with some of the events.
