Netters had it that Liu Qi’s visit to Tianchi led to riots of 10,000 people

On July 15th, Liu Qi, long time leader in the Chinese Communist party and current Mayor of Beijing, caused a near riot while visiting one of China's most beloved landmarks.

Internet users had it that on the 15th’ afternoon, former head of Beijing Party committee went to visit Tianchi in Changbaishan Mountain, accompanied by Governor of Jilin Province. Local government locked all access to the mountain for too long, which caused great resentment from tourists. Many of them later protested, threw mineral water bottles, blocked the passages for governor’ vehicles, and asked for apologies and refund of their tickets.

The following were web posts about this incident.

孙潇(@sx950912) “I used to think online negative reports about PLA officials were exaggerated, stories depicting how they beat up people. But I finally saw this my own eyes today in Tianchi in Changbaishan Mountain. They actually (bleep) threw punches at people. If anything happens, the leaders are just some (bleep)puppets.”

applewo(@applewo327) “Changbaishan Mountain was locked up since 9-ish this morning, just for the visit to Tianchi of some official named Liu. No tourists were allowed to go either up the mountain or down the mountain. People waited for three hours at the foot of the mountain and were refused to let go atop, while people on the top of the mountain waited in line for two hours and failed to catch one car passing by due to a big fog. Dame the official! Tourists at the bottom of the mountain were furious and asked for the officials to explain. Instead of giving out any explanation, they lined up policemen to block the pathways like body shields. What the (bleep) officials they are!”
