Chance is a strikingly handsome young dog who needs a great home! He came to us after he was seen wandering alone through a local neighborhood for several days. Binks is a precious little four year old girl who needs a forever home! She came to us along with her dad (see Da Vinci) when their previous owner was no longer able to keep them. Mister Baxter is a precious boy, one of eleven pups born in rescue on January 9th, 2013. Baxter's Momma, Diamond, is a lovely Yellow Lab mix, about 60 lbs, and Dad is a 20 lb purebred Bichon Frise. We are guessing that Baxter's full grown size will be somewhere in between the two. What an interesting and beautiful mix!  Baxter is a fuzzy, somewhat wirey-coated boy, but his fur is very soft. He is probably not hypoallergenic, despite being part Bichon. Baxter is very likely to shed, and will require regular grooming to keep his coat in good condition. Gentle Ben is a great looking three year old Lab who needs a great home. He was taken in as a stray by a good friend of our group, who found him wandering alone in his neighborhood. Gentle Ben is just like his name... sweet, shy, very gentle and a bit tentative at first, but his tail starts to wag after a moment or two. Josie is a lovely little Jack Russell mix female, about 7 years old and in perfect health. She is small, weighing in at just ten pounds. She was found running toward a busy roadway in Gwinnett. A nice woman stopped alongside her, opened the car door and Josie jumped in. The lady tried to find her owner but had no luck. Josie had no tags or microchip, was covered with fleas and ticks, and not looking her best. She was bathed several times, clipped close to the skin so the dirt could be washed out. Teddy is a very sweet Silky Terrier mix, and he is eight or nine months old. He is a bit disheveled in his photos (nervous, and cold and windy day!). He was rescued from Animal Control recently, where his previous owners surrendered him because... wait for it... he had a broken leg!  Good gravy! Anyway, Teddy is now safe in foster care and has had a $1200 surgery to repair that leg. He is healing nicely and will soon be fit and fine and ready for a forever home. Calvin is a very nice Chihuahua boy who was rescued from Animal Control just in the nick of time. We took his photos on a chilly day, and isn't he just stylin' in his fur-trimmed jacket? Calvin is about four years old, and he is a friendly little guy. This week, on his first visit to adoptions, he really worked the crowd at Petco! Lola is a lovely little lady who has had a rough life. Her previous owner had many dogs living outside and none of them were given much attention. Despite that, Lola is a pretty incredible dog. She has a very soft, gentle personality. Though she is somewhat timid, she is warming up nicely to the people in her new foster home. She would probably be somewhat overwhelmed by noisy young children, but she is not aggressive in the least.   Now that Lola has been allowed indoors, she very much likes that sofa she's sitting on in the pictures. Here's Alley! This beautiful little tabby girl is one of a group of about 25 cats who were very recently dumped behind a local bowling alley. We can't figure out who or why in this abandonment scenario. These are not feral cats, they are very sweet and social. When one of our members went to try and help them, they were actually jumping into her car to say hello! Alley is just a darling gal, pretty and petite. Arlo is a wonderful Aussie/Chow mix who needs a wonderful home! This sweet four year old boy came to us with a shattered leg and a couple of broken ribs.  After veterinary assessment, it was determined that Arlo's front left leg could not be repaired, and it was removed in December. Since that time, Arlo has made a wonderful recovery. He is moving around well, already going for short walks with his foster mom, who tells us that he loves to be outside and sniffing everything. Dasher is a recruit in Operation Second Chance. This great program saves shelter dogs from euthanasia, placing them with inmates at the county jail who have been approved to train and nurture them so that they will be good pets in their permanent adoptive homes. The goal is for each dog to be leash trained, housebroken, and have knowledge of basic obedience commands. The dogs also receive agility training.
