UPDATE: 2 People Reportedly Sexually Assaulted on GGC Campus
Georgia Gwinnett College spokeswoman said there were two separate incidents on the Lawrenceville, Ga. campus late Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
Georgia Gwinnett College police are investigating not one, but two cases of sexual assault.
The Lawrenceville college posted an alert on their website about a woman being attacked as she went to her car at about 2:45am Monday.
However, GGC spokeswoman Sally Ramey said another assault occurred in one of the residence halls late Sunday evening. Ramey said a non-GGC student was arrested in connection to this instance. He was taken into custody on other charges, but according to Ramey, police may add sexual assault once the investigation is complete. That suspect is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
The suspect in Monday's attack is still at large. He is described as a light-skinned black male with a muscular build who was wearing white shorts.
"These two attacks are the first in the school's history," said Ramey.
Students on campus have been advised to be more vigilant on campus. They are encouraged to walk in groups whenever possible or call for an escort from campus police to their cars from GGC buildings.
