Fugitive Stabbing Suspect Apprehended in Lawrenceville

David Lee Ray allegedly stabbed someone multiple times after a fight at a barbecue in Lawrenceville, Ga.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office say they have taken a fugitive off the streets. On Monday, they announced the apprehension of David Lee Ray on Friday, July 6th.

Ray, also known as "Wood," was wanted for aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a man in the head and sides. According to a Gwinnett County police report, Ray and the victim got into a fight after a game of Spades at a barbecue in Lawrenceville on June 15th. He fled the scene before police arrived.

Lee was first tracked down at his home on Cainbridge Drive in Lawrenceville, Ga. He got into his car and investigators tried to follow Lee, but lost track of the suspect.

Sheriff's Office investigators later spotted Lee's vehicle at a car wash in Lawrenceville. They alerted Gwinnett County Police and they were able to make a "felony traffic stop" before Lee could get onto I-85.

Lee was apprehended and taken to Gwinnett County Jail where he is being held without bond.

He also had outstanding warrants through his home state of California. Witnesses from the stabbing say Lee was also a member of the Bloods gang.

Glad he's off our streets. Charge him and send his butt back to Cali! We don't need this in our community.
