Philadelphia Winn NSDAR Celebrates 26th Christmas with Children of Tamassee
On Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 1:00 pm, Philadelphia Winn National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host a Tamassee DAR School cottage during the chapter's 26th annual Christmas party at the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville.
Each year a different cottage participates. This year the boys from Pouch Cottage grades eight through twelve will travel to Lawrenceville from Tamassee, SC, where the DAR-sponsored school is located. The school assists children who come from families disrupted by low income, divorce, death, or desertion.
Earlier this year, the boys submitted their wish lists to the Daughters. Philadelphia Winn Charter Members Eloise Williams of Dacula, her sister Ruth Strickland of Auburn, and other family members then shopped for the gifts made possible by Daughter donations. The goal is to purchase the exact gift the child requests. In addition to gift-giving, each Daughter will bring a covered dish for a fabulous lunch to share with the kids.
The party will take place during the chapter's regular meeting. If you are interested in joining the Philadelphia Winn Chapter, please email. philwinndar@gmail.com.
