New Momma-Bear coming to Mountain View High School AND she is bringing TIARAS WITH HER ... the New Director of the Miss Mountain View Pageants
Entering its 4th year as the main fundrasier for the Mountain View High School PTSA, the Miss Mountain View Pageants introduce an educator in the Mountain View Cluster as the new director. Mrs. Sharon Morales teaches at Twin Rivers Middle School, works with high school students at 12 Stone and truly has the heart of a mentor. A believer that true beauty shines from within, her focus will be on inner beauty, character, confidence and celebrating the “Girl Next Door”. Her vision is to grow the Miss Mountain View Pageants as a staple program for young ladies in the Mountain View Cluster (public, private, on-line and home schooled students) to build lasting friendships in the “sisterhood” of the pageant while making a difference in the community and beyond.
Mrs. Morales brings to the Miss Mountain View Pageants over 7 years of experience at the local, state and national level. Combining pageantry and fundraising is not a new platform for Mrs. Morales as she and her daughter, Sydeny, are the founders of the Miss Relay For Life of Dacula Pageants, raising over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society. She hopes to be able to raise at least twice as much this year for Mountain View High School’s PTSA by taking the same philosphy of pageantry and focusing on it being a “natural/girl next door” pageant. She is dedicated to protecting the hearts and self-esteem of every participant … like a Momma-Bear.
The Miss Mountain View Pageants are the MAIN Fundraiser for Mountain View High School’s PTSA and have afforded numerous opportunites for the young ladies who participate in them. From 4 years old to the 12th grade, there is something for everyone! This year they are implimenting several new ideas to the pageants. One is that the middle and high school girls are going to be in the pageant division that represents the upcoming school year (8th grader in the Miss Freshman, 9th grader in Miss Sophomore, etc) since the girls will be “reigning” the most during that time. They also have the new Miss Teen Mountain View division for all 9th-12th graders who don’t attend a cluster school but live in the Mountain View Cluster School Zone (private, on-line and home schooled students).
Since it’s inception, the Miss Mountain View Pageant girls have been touching the heart of the community. During their reign, Miss Mountain View Representatives have used their crown as an opportunity to serve and inspire their peers to do likewise. Their volunteer efforts have reached the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Feed My Starving Children Outreach, Gwinnett Special Olympic Athletes, Relay For Life, The MAX Outreach for needy children in Lawrenceville, Toys for Tots, Caroling for senior citizens at LifeCare, Jessie’s House, 9/11 Days of Service, Suwanee Literacy Fair and Fall Festivals, Agape Outreach, Walk NOW for Autism Speaks, Streetwise “Operation Back To School”, Walk With US Lupus Research Fundraisers and have even had the honor to escort our Special Olympic Athletes during the Opening Ceremonies for the Georgia State Games!
They have linked arms with the other Mountain View Cluster PTAs and the results have been tremendous. The young ladies have dedicated their time to help support the efforts of the Mountain View Cluster Schools including: Woodward Mill, Freeman’s Mill and Dyer Elementary Schools PTA events as well as Twin Rivers and of course Mountain View High School’s own PTSA. These incredible representatives have had the time of their life being able to give back to the schools who have given so much to them. They have helped serve during Woodward Mill’s Polar Express Night, Enchanted Garden Events, Taste of Mountain View, Mountain View High School’s Health Fair, Bingo Nights, Fall Festivals, Spring Dances, Open House, New Student Orientation, Muffins With Mom, Breakfast With Santa … the list goes on and on.
The pageant has also connected with the Gwinnett County Historic Courthouse in facilitating opportunities for the young ladies to sharpen their public relations skills as they have worked along side the association at several events promoting the city! They have served in a variety of capacities from modeling the their Bridal & Prom Fashion Shows to Elf on the Shelf Christmas Party, Day of Hope, Lighting of the Christmas Tree, Princess & Me Nights and MORE!
With such a heart for service and leadership, the Miss Mountain View Pageant girls have earned recognition from both Governor Sonny Perdue and Governor Nathan Deal as well as being honored with 3 Resolutions from the Gwinnett County Commissioner’s office with their service forever recorded into Gwinnett County History!
The young ladies have done such a tremendous job volunteering throughout the community they have been honored with the “Volunteer of the Year” award from Georgia State Recreation and Parks Association for their service to the Gwinnett Parks and Recreation AND NUMEROUS Presidential Volunteer Service Awards from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation!
The Pageant continues to grow as they focus on mentoring our future leaders to impact the community.
