Lawrenceville, Georgia (Gwinnett/Metro Atlanta) – February 18, 2013 – The City of Lawrenceville, in conjunction  with the Great American Clean-up Gwinnett Challenge, will embark on neighborhood revitalization during the months of March, April and May. The emphasis of this effort will focus on engaging and encouraging residents to proactively clean-up their respective neighborhoods. Lawrenceville desires to improve the community and make Gwinnett the best place to live.

To effectively promote this effort,  residents can participate in the following ways.
1. The City has established a Neighborhood Grant Application that can be found on the city’s website – www.lawrencevillega.org. All projects for grant consideration must begin after March 1, 2013. Neighborhoods can apply for a matching grant from the city for a project improvement. Detailed regulations and criteria are contained in the application.
2. Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful is offering cash prizes for projects that promote beautification. Any resident can create their own project and compete for the cash prize offered by Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful. Rules and regulations are on the Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful website.
3. During the revitalization months, an HOA or a group of neighbors in a specific neighborhood within the city limits may request a dumpster to be placed in their neighborhood for a weekend to collect and remove unsightly items. The person from a neighborhood or the HOA will be responsible for notifying neighbors that a dumpster will be available on the given weekend.  Paint and tires cannot be placed in these dumpsters and will not be accepted, as a fee is required for disposal of these items. Request for dumpsters during the above mentioned months should be sent to tommy.mcdaniel@lawrencevillegaweb.org. Dumpsters are delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday.
4. In addition to these individual neighborhood projects, the city is seeking volunteers to help with clean-up in four specific areas of the city. Any civic group, scout organization, college or high school team interested in participating in this program should email Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson at judyjordan.johnson@lawrencevillegaweb.org. Volunteers can also sign up with Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful to volunteer with the Great American Clean-Up.
