Gwinnett Relay for Life Holding General Interest Meeting
Gwinnett Relay For Life will host a general interest meeting for all interested parties, including sponsors, potential team captains, and other participants for its May 10-11 event.
This 20th Anniversary is a prime opportunity for the community to become involved in the renowned event which honors cancer survivors and pays tribute to those who have lost the fight against cancer. It’s an opportunity for individuals to come together and support the American Cancer Society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, and by finding cures.
The general interest meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in the first floor Education Room of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce in Duluth.

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, they fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. They save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, they turn what they know about cancer into what they do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about the American Cancer Society or to get help, call any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
About Gwinnett Relay For Life
Gwinnett Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue, and walk or run laps on the track at the Gwinnett Fairgrounds “relay” style to fight cancer. Funds raised through the event will support cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services in around Gwinnett County. Cancer survivors are invited to celebrate their triumph over cancer by participating in an inspirational “Survivors’ Lap” to open Relay For Life; whether currently in treatment or recovered, survivors take pride in joining together for the first lap around the track. Their strength, courage and determination help the community see that it is possible to defeat cancer and that progress is being made in the fight against the disease.
