Gwinnett Police Initiate a Volunteer Program
- Organization: Gwinnett County Police Department
- Causes: Animals, Civic
- Contact person: Sgt. Christina Schiralli

The Gwinnett County Police Department has recently initiated a civilian volunteer program. We have started this program, along with several other county departments, as a way to ease budget constraints and give the community an opportunity for greater involvement in their police department. There are several different areas in which to volunteer:
Citizen’s Police Academy
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Office assistance
Animal Shelter
Special Events (Police and Animal Shelter)
Role players for training exercises
Landscaping
All applicants must be at least 18 years old and successfully pass a background check. We ask for a commitment of one year with a minimum of 24 hours of volunteer service. If you have more time to volunteer, we will make sure you are accommodated. We currently have 31 active volunteers in different units. Our goal is to have 100 active by the end of the year. Gwinnett County Government is striving to reach 1,000,000 volunteer hours this year, and the Gwinnett County Police Department hopes to play a major role in accomplishing this goal.
This is an opportunity for volunteers to build their résumés, receive free training, and contribute to the community. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Gwinnett County Police Department should contact Sgt. Christina Schiralli at 770-513-5506 or by email at policevolunteers@gwinnettcounty.com.
