In celebration of National Heart Month, Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) hosted hundreds of Gwinnett community members at “Get Heart Smart- an interactive heart health expo” on Saturday morning at the Gwinnett Center. This free event featured onsite educational and fitness classes as well as discounted medical screenings. To raise awareness of National Heart Month, GMC’s Strickland Heart Center sponsored a heart-healthy cooking contest during the event. Local firefighters and GMC employees prepared heart-healthy meals to compete for the prize of best dish. On hand to help select the best dish was Celebrity Guest Judge Michael Ganley of Duluth’s Park Café and Payne-Corley House. Dallas McCade of Kicks 101.5 emceed the event and announced the winners. Team Ripe Peaches of the GMC ICU took home the title of “best-tasting, heart-smart dish.”
