The Metro Atlanta Public Safety Flag Football League kicks-off its first annual flag football competition. This Public Safety League is the first of its kind in the Metro Atlanta area. Answering “The Call to Serve” is the League’s motto.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has answered that call and has fielded a team of volunteer deputies to compete in the First Annual Public Safety Flag Football League. The League kicks-off its first game Saturday, May 5th, at Hallford Memorial Stadium (3789 Memorial College Avenue Clarkston, Georgia 30321) at 1pm. This is a 6 week season ending June 9th. On June 9th the top 2 teams will battle for the league championship.
The focus of the League is to bring the varied band of brothers and sisters together to build camaraderie, increase morale, enhance collaboration, and promote overall health and wellness. “Often times members of law enforcement only get together to mourn a fallen comrade, this is an opportunity to get together and just have some fun with other colleagues”, Colonel Don Pinkard stated.
The Gwinnett County’s Sheriff’s Office “Falcons” will battle the Dekalb County Police Department at 2:15pm Saturday, May 5th. The League’s games will be exciting and lots of fun! Admission into the game will be $5.00 for adults and kids 12 and under will be free. Concessions will be offered at all the games. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta LLC. The Gold Shield Foundation was established for the express purpose of assisting spouses and dependent children of law enforcement officers or firefighters killed, or incapacitated in the line of duty.
